Welcome! My name is Ted Markle. I earned my Master’s degree in Music from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. I have over twenty years of experience teaching singing and piano for students of all age groups.
Private lessons are so important because practicing in a group doesn’t give the personal attention needed to really improve. With private lessons I can perfectly tailor every lesson for you or your child.
My love for music started very young. I began playing the organ at age 8. By age 9 I was performing at public events. I eventually pursued and earned a Master’s Degree in Music from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey where I studied voice, piano, and organ.
I was a piano accompanist for the Westminster Symphonic Choir and played for conductors of the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and National Symphony Orchestra. Through my decades of experience as a musician I have performed at concerts, social events, weddings, on the radio, and numerous other functions. I have been the Director of Music at several large churches and currently enjoy a position as the Organist/Pianist at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. I have studied, taught, and performed a wide variety of styles from pop to jazz to classical.
Private lessons offer students the individual attention that is difficult to match in a classroom setting. With personalized sessions I am able to tailor lessons to each student. My teaching philosophy focuses on positive reinforcement and encouragement. I have consistently found that students improve faster when they are confident and having fun. Both singing and playing instruments are most satisfying and enjoyable when you’re getting better.
Studies have shown that music lessons can help improve a student’s mathematical ability and even increase language skills, particularly in children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Piano lessons have also been proven to improve physical coordination skills, as both hands move independent of one another. With daily practice, you will be surprised how quickly you can improve.
I teach voice, piano, organ, keyboard, and music theory in classical and popular styles. I teach students of all skills levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Whatever your skill level, don’t hesitate to call or email me to set up a free lesson. I am available for both daytime and evening hours.
